Narrows of the Harpeth Engagement Session

narrows of the harpeth engagement session

Kayla and Francisco’s Narrows of the Harpeth engagement session happened on a stretch of river that means something different to me than most of the places I shoot. Kayla lived a few doors down from me back when I met my own husband. She met Francisco a little while later in that same neighborhood. Our dogs were puppies together, both each other’s first friends, back before either of us had any idea that our lives were heading in such similar directions.

Spring Engagement at Harpeth River State Park

The Narrows of the Harpeth has become one of my favorite spots in the Nashville area for engagement photos. The river bends through a narrow gorge (hence the name) with bluffs on either side, and depending on the time of day, the light coming through the trees is stunning. It’s definitely a spot that rewards patience! It’s perfect if you’re willing to explore a little, find the rock you want to sit on or the trail you want to walk down.

Kayla and Francisco were so easy in front of the camera. His goofiness made her laugh without even trying and it was just so cute. They also brought their dogs so of course I was in heaven. I can’t wait for their wedding next year.

If you’re looking for Harpeth River engagement photos or trying to find a Nashville-area location that gives you nature, water, and a little bit of adventure without driving two hours outside the city, this spot deserves a look! Just make sure to bring shoes you don’t mind getting a little dirty.

I've pretty much always had a camera nearby, and somehow that turned into the best job I could've imagined. Now I get to spend my days with really great people, photograph one of the happiest days of their lives, and be creative for a living.

If you're looking for photos that feel natural, personal, and true to your day, I think we'll get along really well.
