A Copperline Ranch wedding reception can look a few different ways, and this one paired a ceremony at the Cathedral of the Incarnation with a reception filled with candlelight, red roses, and warm wood tones.
The two settings had super different personalities. The cathedral’s intricate architecture and painted ceilings made a breathtaking backdrop for the ceremony, while the reception at Copperline Ranch felt warm and intimate, with black linens, long candles, and deep red roses throughout the tables.
It’s a combination that gave the day so much visual variety, from the scale and detail of the ceremony space to the smaller moments unfolding around the reception tables.

The Cathedral of the Incarnation has an insane amount of detail to take in. The painted ceilings, columns, and gold accents give the space a sense of scale that you really see in the wider photographs, while the closer images bring attention to the smaller details throughout the architecture.
For a ceremony in a space like this, I love being able to photograph both the overall scene and the moments happening within it. The wider frames show the couple surrounded by the architecture and their guests, while closer photographs bring the focus back to the people and what’s happening between them.
The setting is a big part of the story, but it doesn’t need to compete with the people in it. I want the photographs to give you a sense of what it felt like to be there, from the grandeur of the space to the expressions and interactions you might not have noticed in the moment.

The reception brought a completely different atmosphere to the gallery. Black linens, red roses, glass candleholders, and warm light worked together against the wood interior of the barn. As the evening went on, the focus shifted from the table details to the people gathered around them.
I always want to photograph the details couples put thought into, but I also want to show what happened around them. A beautifully styled table is one part of the story. The speeches, the reactions, the conversations, and the way everyone settles into the evening are what make the reception feel alive.
That’s one of the things I pay attention to throughout a wedding. I’m looking for little moments as they happen, but I’m also thinking about how I frame them, how the light falls, and how the different images will work together in the final gallery. Documentary coverage and an artistic approach aren’t separate things. They work together.

When your ceremony and reception take place in different locations, each space brings something different to the photographs. The architecture, lighting, and atmosphere change, and the gallery gets to reflect those differences instead of making the whole day look visually uniform.
I approach each wedding with that in mind. I’ll make space for the portraits that matter to you, while also paying attention to the moments that happen naturally around them. I want you to have photos that feel intentional without feeling overly staged, and a gallery that brings together the big moments, the quieter ones, and the atmosphere of the day.

I’m Cayla, a wedding photographer based in Nashville, Tennessee. I’m drawn to the way a wedding day unfolds, from the moments you might expect to the ones nobody could have planned. I love making photographs that feel honest and full of life, with an artistic eye for light, composition, and all the little details that give each day its own character.
My approach is documentary at heart, with room for intentional portraits and creative ideas along the way. I put so much care into understanding what matters to you and making photographs that reflect it. I want you to feel comfortable being yourselves, have fun with the process, and walk away with images that feel like they could only belong to you.
