Desiree and Cameron’s summer wedding at The Venue at Birchwood was a hot, bright August day in Tennessee. Their day was full of good people, an emotional first look, and a super fun reception that included a saxophone player and plenty of dancing.
Planning: KGC Planning

Saxophone: Destin Miller
Florals: Murfreesboro Flower Shop
Hair: Hair by Samara L

Desiree and Cameron chose to do a first look before the ceremony, and it was a pretty emotional moment.

I love first looks for the simple reason that they give you a few minutes together before the rest of the day gets going (and give you more flexibility in your timeline). They’re not for everyone, though. If you want to see each other for the first time walking down the aisle, that’s just as valid.

August in Tennessee is hot, and this day was no exception. It was also incredibly bright, so we worked with the light and kept portraits moving.

If you’re planning a summer wedding, your photographer can help you think through the timing of portraits, especially if you want to spend some time outside. The middle of the day can be hot and bright, while the light later in the evening tends to be softer.
You don’t need to build an entire hour around portraits, either. A little flexibility in the timeline can give you plenty of opportunities throughout the day 🙂

The reception was a fun way to finish the day, and the saxophone player was definitely one of the more memorable details.
The Venue at Birchwood is a Nashville-area wedding venue in Spring Hill, Tennessee, with a chapel, reception space, and getting-ready areas all on the property.

I've pretty much always had a camera nearby, and somehow that turned into the best job I could've imagined. Now I get to spend my days with really great people, photograph one of the happiest days of their lives, and be creative for a living.
If you're looking for photos that feel natural, personal, and true to your day, I think we'll get along really well.
Tell me about your day - where it's happening, what you're envisioning, what matters most to you. I'll get back to you with availability, pricing, and we can figure out if we're a good fit.
I only take on a limited number of weddings each year, so if your date is coming up, don't wait to reach out.
