If you’re looking for a chill, low-key spot for your Shelby Bottoms Park engagement session, good news: the park basically does the work for you. East Nashville, the Cumberland River in the background, fall light coming through the trees. Hannah and Ryan kept it simple and it worked exactly the way simple usually does.

Shelby Bottoms doesn’t get enough credit as an engagement session location honestly. It’s easy to get to, parking is straightforward, and the variety you get just from walking the trails means you’re not standing in one spot the whole time. Open fields, tree lines, the greenway path, river views if you wander far enough. For couples who want their photos to feel natural and unpretentious, it’s a really solid choice.
Fall specifically is peak Shelby Bottoms season. The light filters through the trees differently once the leaves start turning and you get this warm, golden quality that’s hard to manufacture anywhere else.

Hannah and Ryan were easy to work with. We walked, we talked, they were comfortable with each other in front of the camera pretty quickly which is genuinely all you need for a good session. No elaborate concepts, no coordinated outfits with a theme, just two people in a pretty park at golden hour. Sometimes that’s exactly enough.
By the time the sun started dropping behind the tree line the light was doing that thing where everything looks a little bit cinematic whether you planned it that way or not. Those last twenty minutes of a fall session at Shelby Bottoms are always worth staying for.

Golden hour is the move here, plan to arrive about an hour before sunset and you’ll be in good shape. Wear something you’re actually comfortable in since you’ll be walking. Soft colors and natural tones photograph well against all the greenery but honestly wear what feels like you.
No permit needed for a standard engagement session which is one less thing to think about.

My couples usually tell me the same thing: having me at their wedding felt easy. Like they could actually be present and soak everything in, knowing someone was paying attention without needing anything from them.
That's the whole point.
You're not hiring me to direct you through a shot list or make you perform for the camera. You're hiring me to document your day as it unfolds. The way your mom looked at you during your vows. The toast that made everyone lose it. The moment you two finally exhaled and realized you were married.
If you're planning something outdoorsy, intimate, or a little adventurous, if you value natural moments, and want a photographer who feels more like a friend than a stranger with a camera, then you're in the right place.
You get to laugh, cry, and actually experience what's happening on your wedding day. I make sure nothing slips by. Your photos feel real because the energy behind them was real. No forcing, no performing. Just you, living your day.
Tell me about your day - where it's happening, what you're envisioning, what matters most to you. I'll get back to you with availability, pricing, and we can figure out if we're a good fit.
I only take on a limited number of weddings each year, so if your date is coming up, don't wait to reach out.
