A spring wedding in the woods is hard to beat and Katey and Eli’s May Hickory Meadow wedding is a pretty good argument for that. Laid back couple, beautiful property, and one of those days where everything just works without anyone having to force it.
Hickory Meadow is in Charlotte, Tennessee, about an hour west of Nashville, and it’s one of those Middle Tennessee wedding venues that photographs better than it might sound on paper. The ceremony space is tucked into the woods which gives you this natural canopy of trees overhead that does incredible things with spring light. Inside the reception space is open and airy without a lot of competing visual noise, which makes it a clean backdrop for portraits and reception coverage alike.

It’s not a flashy venue but it doesn’t need to be. Sometimes a space that gets out of its own way is exactly what a wedding day needs.
Katey and Eli were the definition of an easy couple. Fun, laid back, completely unbothered by the chaos that a wedding day can sometimes bring. That energy carried through the entire day and you can feel it in the gallery. No stiff moments, no awkward pauses, just two people genuinely enjoying themselves and everyone around them feeding off that.

Spring in Tennessee also did its job. The woods were fully green, the light was soft and filtering through the trees during the ceremony, and by golden hour the whole property had that warm May glow that makes outdoor wedding photography genuinely enjoyable.
One of the things I love about shooting at venues like Hickory Meadows is that the natural setting does a lot of the heavy lifting. As a Nashville wedding photographer who shoots across Middle Tennessee regularly, wooded ceremony spaces are some of my favorites to work with because the light is always interesting and the backdrop never feels generic.

My couples usually tell me the same thing: having me at their wedding felt easy. Like they could actually be present and soak everything in, knowing someone was paying attention without needing anything from them.
That's the whole point.
You're not hiring me to direct you through a shot list or make you perform for the camera. You're hiring me to document your day as it unfolds. The way your mom looked at you during your vows. The toast that made everyone lose it. The moment you two finally exhaled and realized you were married.
If you're planning something outdoorsy, intimate, or a little adventurous, if you value natural moments, and want a photographer who feels more like a friend than a stranger with a camera, then you're in the right place.
You get to laugh, cry, and actually experience what's happening on your wedding day. I make sure nothing slips by. Your photos feel real because the energy behind them was real. No forcing, no performing. Just you, living your day.
Tell me about your day - where it's happening, what you're envisioning, what matters most to you. I'll get back to you with availability, pricing, and we can figure out if we're a good fit.
I only take on a limited number of weddings each year, so if your date is coming up, don't wait to reach out.
