A Fall Wedding in Nashville’s Germantown Neighborhood

Cait and Jim’s fall wedding in Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood was intimate, personal, and completely their own. Their day included an emotional ceremony, lots of candid moments with family and friends, fall wedding portraits, and, because this is Nashville, a brass band leading them through the streets of Germantown to their reception.

Germantown is one of my favorite Nashville neighborhoods to photograph in because the neighborhood itself just becomes part of the story. You’ve got historic buildings, sidewalks, city views, and the energy of downtown Nashville without actually being in downtown Nashville (which is ideal in my opinion).

For Cait and Jim, the setting worked perfectly with the intimate feel of their wedding. No bridal party. No complicated production. Just their people, their ceremony, and a fall wedding day in Nashville.

Documentary Wedding Photography in Nashville

My approach to wedding photography is documentary-style at its core. I want to photograph what’s actually happening, while still creating intentional portraits and giving you direction when it’s helpful.

For Cait and Jim, that looked like photographing the fun moments before the ceremony, the reactions from their families, the people they love, and all the little things happening around them without turning the day into a constant photo shoot.

The result is a wedding gallery that includes both beautiful portraits and the candid photographs that bring you right back to the day.

Candid Wedding Photos in Nashville

The best wedding photographs usually aren’t planned (which is kind of what candid means LOL). They’re the moments between the moments: someone laughing with their friends, a parent getting emotional during the ceremony, guests hugging in the rain, or the couple completely immersing themselves in the day & forgetting the camera altogether.

Those kind of photographs made up a huge part of this particular gallery.

For couples looking for a candid wedding photographer in Nashville, this is the kind of coverage I love most. You get photographs of the big moments, but also the people, reactions, movement, and in-between moments that you might not see while you’re busy living the day (which you aboslutely should be).

A Brass Band Through Germantown Fall Wedding

After the ceremony, Cait and Jim were led through the streets of Germantown by a brass band on their way to their reception.

It was loud, joyful, completely unexpected, and very Nashville. People stopped to watch & guests danced in the streets. Cait and Jim laughed, kissed, and made their way through the neighborhood surrounded by their people.

This is one of those parts of a wedding day that can’t really be recreated for a photograph. You just have to be there and pay attention. And luckily I was.
