Fall Creek Falls is one of those places I’d add to any Tennessee must-shoot list. So when Jake reached out about a Fall Creek Falls engagement session — a surprise proposal, specifically — I said yes immediately. Then I remembered the trail.
Still said yes. But I want you to know it was a commitment.

Fall Creek Falls State Park is about two hours from Nashville and it is straight up stunning. The waterfall is one of the tallest in the eastern United States, and getting there requires hiking in, which means by the time you arrive, you’ve earned the view. It also means the location feels remote and special in a way that a lot of popular spots don’t anymore.
The hike down is about 15 minutes which is manageable! It’s the hike back up that sneaks up on you.
Fall Creek Falls photos have this incredible quality to them because of the setting. The way the light peeks through the trees, the sound of the water, even just the scale of the falls themselves. It does a lot of the work for you.

When I made it to the base of the falls, I picked out a large rock for them to stand on for the moment (a perfect natural stage in front of the falls). When Rea spotted it, she looked at it and said something along the lines of “oh, the Lion King Pride Rock?”
She had no idea & it was so perfect.

Jake got down on one knee and Rea’s face said everything. She was SO happy. The kind of happy that takes over your whole body and you can’t contain it even if you tried.
After the proposal we moved into the full engagement session, still at the falls. They were both so happy and completely at ease. It made the session feel effortless. When the couple in front of you just got engaged in front of a waterfall, you don’t have to do much.
The hike back up was also beautiful. A little more work than the hike down, but worth every step.

If you’re thinking about proposing at Fall Creek Falls or doing an engagement session there, here’s what I’d tell you: plan for more time than you think you need, wear comfortable shoes, and hire a photographer who is okay with a hike. The Fall Creek Falls photos you’ll end up with are absolutely worth it.
I’d love to be there for it. Let’s chat 🙂

My couples usually tell me the same thing: having me at their wedding felt easy. Like they could actually be present and soak everything in, knowing someone was paying attention without needing anything from them.
That's the whole point.
You're not hiring me to direct you through a shot list or make you perform for the camera. You're hiring me to document your day as it unfolds. The way your mom looked at you during your vows. The toast that made everyone lose it. The moment you two finally exhaled and realized you were married.
If you're planning something outdoorsy, intimate, or a little adventurous, if you value natural moments, and want a photographer who feels more like a friend than a stranger with a camera, then you're in the right place.
You get to laugh, cry, and actually experience what's happening on your wedding day. I make sure nothing slips by. Your photos feel real because the energy behind them was real. No forcing, no performing. Just you, living your day.
Tell me about your day - where it's happening, what you're envisioning, what matters most to you. I'll get back to you with availability, pricing, and we can figure out if we're a good fit.
I only take on a limited number of weddings each year, so if your date is coming up, don't wait to reach out.
