Riverwood Mansion Nashville Wedding

riverwood mansion nashville wedding ceremony

Riverwood Mansion weddings have a reputation for a reason. You show up, and you just kind of exhale. The venue sits tucked into East Nashville — close enough to downtown that nothing is far, but secluded enough that you forget the city exists for a few hours. Kelsey and Ethan got married there in April and the venue was in full show-off mode. Blooming gardens, golden afternoon light, and lots of southern charm.

The property has been around since the late 1700s and it shows. Greek Revival columns, giant magnolia trees, marble fireplaces inside — it doesn’t need much help looking beautiful. As a photographer, I’m not going to complain about that.

Couples searching for Nashville wedding venues with lots of character (aka not a blank slate, not a converted warehouse) will find Riverwood in a league of its own. It’s a 9,200 square foot historic mansion with crazy gorgeous gardens and a covered reception pavilion. Plus, their coordination team has clearly done this a thousand times. The day just runs. And when a wedding day runs well, everyone relaxes — and relaxed people make for way better photos.

Spring Weddings at Riverwood

April might honestly be the best time to get married at Riverwood. For one, the gardens are fully bloomed. On top of that, the Tennessee heat hasn’t kicked in yet, and the late afternoon light is so soft it’s almost unfair.

The outdoor ceremony space frames couples against trees and garden landscaping that looks like someone designed it specifically for wedding photos (it kind of was). Then, by the time everyone moved into the pavilion for the reception, the string lights were glowing. The whole evening had an easy, relaxed energy.

The mansion interior is worth noting too. The chandeliers, architecture, and fireplaces. Together they add up to getting-ready photos and portraits that feel elevated without needing to try hard at all.

Things to Know about a Riverwood Mansion Nashville Wedding

Riverwood offers all-inclusive packages, which helps couples who don’t want to spend six months sourcing every single vendor. Their in-house coordinators handle most of the logistics, so the day stays organized. As a result, we get more time to focus on actually making great photos together.

The venue holds up to 300 guests across the mansion and pavilion, so it works for big celebrations and intimate weddings alike. Also, the East Nashville location keeps you close to hotels and restaurants without putting you in the middle of downtown chaos.

Overall, if you want a Nashville wedding venue with history, outdoor space that photographs beautifully, and a team that knows what they’re doing — Riverwood is a great choice.

My couples usually tell me the same thing: having me at their wedding felt easy. Like they could actually be present and soak everything in, knowing someone was paying attention without needing anything from them.

That's the whole point.

You're not hiring me to direct you through a shot list or make you perform for the camera. You're hiring me to document your day as it unfolds. The way your mom looked at you during your vows. The toast that made everyone lose it. The moment you two finally exhaled and realized you were married.

If you're planning something outdoorsy, intimate, or a little adventurous, if you value natural moments, and want a photographer who feels more like a friend than a stranger with a camera, then you're in the right place.

You get to laugh, cry, and actually experience what's happening on your wedding day. I make sure nothing slips by. Your photos feel real because the energy behind them was real. No forcing, no performing. Just you, living your day.
