Belle Meade Historic Site & Winery Wedding in Nashville

Ceremony setup on the grounds at Belle Meade in Nashville

If there’s a more beautiful spot for a spring wedding in Nashville than Belle Meade Historic Site & Winery, I haven’t found it yet. Taylor Ann and Luke’s May wedding was the kind of day that makes you remember why you do this job. Sweet couple, sweet families, genuinely emotional moments, and a venue that made everything look like it was lit by someone with very good taste. (It was just May in Nashville doing its thing.)

A Wedding at Belle Meade Historic Site & Winery

Belle Meade is one of those Nashville wedding venues that has real history behind it, and you can feel it when you’re there. The mansion, the tree-lined grounds, the manicured lawns, it’s elegant without being stuffy and the property gives you so much to work with photographically. Spring is probably the best time to get married here. The greenery is at peak lushness, the light in the evening is incredible, and the temperatures are still tolerable before Tennessee decides it’s summer.

If you’re a Nashville couple considering this venue, it’s worth knowing that the grounds are spacious enough that portraits never feel rushed or repetitive. You can cover a lot of different looks without ever leaving the property.

The Wedding Day

Taylor Ann and Luke were easy from start to finish. No drama, no chaos, just two people genuinely happy to be getting married surrounded by people they love. Their families matched that energy completely and honestly some of my favorite frames from the day are candid moments with parents and siblings rather than just the couple.

The first look was emotional in the quiet way that the best ones are. Not over the top, just real. Luke’s reaction when he saw her is one of those frames I keep coming back to.

Portraits on the grounds afterward were relaxed and unhurried. They moved well together and didn’t need much direction which always makes for a better gallery. At one point we ended up near the horses and got a few frames with them that turned out to be some of the most unexpected favorites of the day. You can’t really plan for that, you just have to be paying attention.

The reception was warm and full of laughter. The kind of evening where toasts go a little long because everyone has something genuine to say and nobody minds. Belle Meade holds that energy really well, the candlelit tables and string lights do a lot to make a reception feel intimate even when the guest count is substantial.

Planning Your Belle Meade Wedding

Spring and fall are the sweet spots here seasonally. Build more portrait time into your timeline than you think you need because the grounds reward wandering. And if there are horses around, say yes to the photo opportunity. Trust me on that one.

My couples usually tell me the same thing: having me at their wedding felt easy. Like they could actually be present and soak everything in, knowing someone was paying attention without needing anything from them.

That's the whole point.

You're not hiring me to direct you through a shot list or make you perform for the camera. You're hiring me to document your day as it unfolds. The way your mom looked at you during your vows. The toast that made everyone lose it. The moment you two finally exhaled and realized you were married.

If you're planning something outdoorsy, intimate, or a little adventurous, if you value natural moments, and want a photographer who feels more like a friend than a stranger with a camera, then you're in the right place.

You get to laugh, cry, and actually experience what's happening on your wedding day. I make sure nothing slips by. Your photos feel real because the energy behind them was real. No forcing, no performing. Just you, living your day.
