If you’re looking for a Nashville engagement photographer who shoots at Union Station, this is what a session here actually looks like. Union Station is one of those spots that just hits different – this historic hotel in downtown Nashville has massive ceilings, incredible light, and enough architectural detail to make your photos look expensive without trying. Kate and Gunner’s session here was proof that the best photos happen when people just show up and have fun.

Union Station used to be an actual train station that was established in 1900, and now it’s a hotel. The lobby has these huge arched ceilings, warm tones, and windows that let in the prettiest afternoon light. It photographs like a dream, especially in winter when the light is softer and warmer.
The catch is you can’t just walk in and start shooting. It’s a hotel, so you need permission or a reason to be there. Kate and Gunner are getting married there, which is why we could shoot their engagement session inside. But if you’re already planning a Union Station wedding or staying at the hotel, it’s SO worth taking advantage of.

As a Nashville engagement photographer who’s shot here before, here’s how it went down: Kate and Gunner are the kind of couple that makes my job easy. They trusted me completely, which meant I barely had to direct them at all. We started outside in the below freezing January temps (Kate was a trooper for this), and they just talked to each other, laughed, existed. I think I gave them maybe two actual prompts the whole time.
Then we went to the hotel bar because it felt right (and we all needed to warm up). They got drinks, I got an Old Fashioned, and Gunner ordered this bright fruity cocktail with flowers in it that made us all crack up. It was the perfect way to end a session that felt way more like hanging out than working.

I’ve shot a lot of Nashville engagement sessions at this point, and here’s what I know: the location matters way less than how you feel. Kate and Gunner weren’t stressed about posing or looking perfect. They just showed up as themselves and trusted the process. That’s what makes photos you’ll actually want to look at later.
If you want more ideas for Nashville engagement locations, I’ve written about other spots too. But the real answer is always going to be: pick somewhere that feels like you.

Pick a spot that actually means something to you, wear something you feel comfortable in, and don’t overthink it. The less you stress about it, the better it’s going to be.
If that sounds like your vibe, let’s talk. I work with couples who want their engagement session to feel fun, not like a chore.

My couples usually tell me the same thing: having me at their wedding felt easy. Like they could actually be present and soak everything in, knowing someone was paying attention without needing anything from them.
That's the whole point.
You're not hiring me to direct you through a shot list or make you perform for the camera. You're hiring me to document your day as it unfolds. The way your mom looked at you during your vows. The toast that made everyone lose it. The moment you two finally exhaled and realized you were married.
If you're planning something outdoorsy, intimate, or a little adventurous, if you value natural moments, and want a photographer who feels more like a friend than a stranger with a camera, then you're in the right place.
You get to laugh, cry, and actually experience what's happening on your wedding day. I make sure nothing slips by. Your photos feel real because the energy behind them was real. No forcing, no performing. Just you, living your day.
Tell me about your day - where it's happening, what you're envisioning, what matters most to you. I'll get back to you with availability, pricing, and we can figure out if we're a good fit.
I only take on a limited number of weddings each year, so if your date is coming up, don't wait to reach out.
